As more and more products are being manufactured using hexagon screws and bolts the popularity of these keys - especially individual keys and torx keys is increasing. There are Keys available which are manufactured in Stainless Steel.
These keys have a hexagon shaped end, as such they have six contact points between the fastener being tightened / untightened and the key. One advantage of these keys is that very small bolt heads can be used but the torque they can apply is constrained by the length and size of the key. You must be sure to use the correct size key in the fastener as using one too small could damage the fastener.
The individual Original Allen Keys are available in either metric or imperial sizes and in long or short arm versions, with the long arm versions giving additional leverage when required. The Faithfull Hexagon Keys are available in imperial or metric sizes in the short arm style only. The Allen Plas T Keys are a single ended key that has a cushion grip plastic T handle for a better grip and extra torque.
Also available from Allen are Ball Plus Keys and Hex Plus Keys. The Ball Plus Keys have ball end multi-angle hex ends which enables these keys to be used at angles up to 25°, whilst the Hex Plus Keys multi-angle keys have a high strength ball end feature which is 20% stronger than regular multi-angles. This feature moves pressure points away from hex corners when tightening or loosening socket screws.
